Learning is a powerful driver for competitive advantage. In addition to the basic training required by the various regulators, Julius Baer invests significantly in the continuous development of its client-serving employees. In Switzerland, for example, all client advisors are trained in accordance with ISO standard 17024 to become ’Certified Wealth Management Advisors (CWMA)’. The offering for front office employees also includes competency-based training for advisory skills, banking, and product knowledge. To make sure the training offering is in line with business needs, a community of front office ambassadors is involved when creating new learning opportunities. For talented assistants and specialists, the Junior RM Programme offers a great opportunity to develop into a relationship manager role.
All staff development
Julius Baer offers various learning possibilities either online or in a classroom setting. The current offering includes a broad variety of in-class courses in the areas of leadership, project management, public speaking, design thinking, and many more. The courses are held in different languages and locations around the world. With the online training offering, you can study any time and at your own pace on mobile devices. There is a huge variety of topics to choose from, ranging from languages, banking skills, tools, and system skills, to legal & compliance and personal development. We also encourage employees to not only participate in targeted in-house programmes, but to also pursue focused external training for which the Bank offers financial contributions.
Training and development
The continuous and targeted development of our employees is a core element of Julius Baer’s success. Also important is that we support our employees in being ready for changes that arise in the finance industry and the business environment at large. Through the Julius Baer Academy, we ensure that business needs and individual development goals are matched. In addition, we ensure that talent and leadership development supports strong cultural and ethical behaviour. Julius Baer continues to develop the learning landscape for all employees to support lifelong learning and to ensure that everybody is well prepared for today’s changing world.
Julius Baer expects a lot from its leaders, including life-long learning and personal development. The Bank also identifies and fosters future leadership talent and offers exciting perspectives for employees with the right motivation to lead. Assessing leadership talent on different levels, through feedback from stakeholders or assessment centres, is a regular practice. Julius Baer wants leaders to take a coaching approach, and trains eligible senior managers with a view to empowering them to act as mentors. To develop skilled managers, Julius Baer collaborates with IMD, a leading business school, which offers a unique, tailor-made ‘Team Leader Programme’.
