Zurich, 9 January 2023 – Bank Julius Baer continues to expand in its Swiss home market and has formed a new sub-market for the regions of Aargau and Solothurn. As of 1 January 2023, Claude Luethi has joined Julius Baer as head of this market, which he will build up and manage from Zurich. Also as of 1 January 2023, Josef (Sepp) Zellweger has started at Julius Baer to set up an area for advising Swiss non-profit foundations. He will report to Claude Luethi in this function. In addition, several relationship managers for the two teams will join the Bank.

Claude Luethi has more than 20 years of experience in private banking. He joins Julius Baer from Credit Suisse Switzerland, where he had held various specialist and management positions in private banking since 2002. For the last six years, he had been head of the Zurich North Region, Private Banking. Claude Luethi studied private law at the University of Bern.

Sepp Zellweger is an accomplished financial expert with many years of experience and an extensive network in the non-profit foundation business. Prior to Julius Baer, Sepp Zellweger had worked at Credit Suisse Switzerland in various positions since 1993, most recently as head of Partnerships, Foundations & Acquisitions for six years. Sepp Zellweger holds degrees in Business Administration from the University of Zurich and in Marketing from the University of St.Gallen.

The steps taken to expand in the Swiss market follow Julius Baer’s strategic announcements to continuously recruit and develop front-office staff. The Bank has made further significant hires across Switzerland in recent weeks in various locations and areas.
