Julius Baer becomes main sponsor of mudac Lausanne

The Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts (mudac) in Lausanne is inquisitive, interdisciplinary - and on the move! Julius Baer is excited to support the museum throughout its relocation into Lausanne’s new cultural district ’PLATEFORME10’ and beyond.

mudac Lausanne – bridging design, the applied arts and contemporary art
Since its opening in 2000, the Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts (mudac) in Lausanne has established a reputation for having an inquisitive and incisive attitude to the things that shape our way of life, and has always sought to ask pertinent – and sometimes impertinent! – questions. It prides itself on providing a forum for dialogue and exchange, bringing together design with the applied arts and contemporary art. This unique and bold approach is recognised throughout the world, with exhibitions staged from Paris to Shanghai.

Julius Baer will support the museum’s move into Lausanne’s new cultural district ‘PLATEFORME10’ and beyond
Bank Julius Baer is proud to become the mudac’s main sponsor and looks forward to collaborating with this resolutely modern institution in the years to come. The partnership will encompass the museum’s move into ‘PLATEFORME10’ – a new cultural district consisting of five world-class institutions directly next to the Lausanne train station. Julius Baer acknowledges and strongly supports mudac’s ambition to listen to society, analyse and reflect its desires, questions and intentions.

“Anticipating change is one of our most important missions. It is the reason why my colleagues and I approach our daily work with curiosity and an open mind. The partnership with the mudac will provide us with unusual stimuli to view topics from different angles. Furthermore, this collaboration represents an exciting opportunity for Julius Baer to be part of the unique project PLATEFORME10, which is emerging a few steps away from the Lausanne office. We are delighted to support and accompany the mudac in this wonderful adventure”, says Emmanuel Debons who heads Julius Baer’s Vaud & Valais teams.

PLATEFORME10 – a new arts district is being established at Lausanne train station
The next time you visit Lausanne and stop at the train station, you may want to take a few minutes to view the progress of this ambitious urban development project. The importance of PLATEFORME10 will furthermore grow with the expansion of the Lausanne train station, which will become the main transit point for 100’000 daily passengers in Romandie.

PLATEFORME10 will be composed of two buildings: The first one being dedicated to the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-arts (mcb-a), opening in 2019. The second building will become the new home of the Musée de L’Elysée as well as mudac (opening 2021). Together with its direct neighbor, the Musée de l’Elysée, the mudac expects between 200’000 and 300´000 visitors every year.
