Emre, why did you apply for the Julius Baer Graduate Programme?
"Following my university studies, I was keen to start my career with a graduate programme as I was interested in getting a broad insight into the banking industry. The Julius Baer Graduate Programme consists of three assignments, which allowed me to get practical insights into different departments and business lines and a good understanding of Julius Baer's processes and offerings. At the same time, it also gave me the opportunity to interact with different staff members from all over the world. This experience has proven valuable for my current position within Julius Baer and in achieving my personal career goals."
What did you like best about your function?
"As a graduate, I was involved in the daily business from day one and given the same responsibilities as my colleagues. During this time, I've experienced that the core values of the Bank are genuinely lived by my working colleagues: they were always helpful and willing to support me in my role as a graduate and I had the freedom to ask them as many questions as I needed. I was also given the opportunity to work in other departments which are related to my daily business, and to meet inspiring and impressing senior staff in networking events organised by the Graduate Programme."
What is important to you in your career?
"Personally, I define a professional career as a combination of both deep knowledge in banking-specific subjects and achieving a certain level within the Bank’s hierarchy after a certain period of time. There is no doubt that the Graduate Programme offered various opportunities to widen my know-how in finance: workshops, classroom trainings, and virtual courses pave the way for achieving my personal goals. On the other hand, the networking events within the Graduate Programme offered a unique opportunity to reach my ambitions to grow my contacts."
