Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (Youth Orchestra)
Creating opportunities for European orchestral musicians to forge their talents
The Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO) is based in Vienna, Austria. Since its establishment, the orchestra has served to provide extraordinary concert experiences through its talent and professionalism, musicianship without borders, as well as its dedication and enthusiasm.
Each year, over two thousand talented orchestral musicians from all over Europe apply to the youth orchestra. After a strict selection procedure, those who are chosen are able to take part in orchestra projects, where they work with the most important conductors and soloists of our time. Concerts are given in renowned concert halls, at leading festivals in Europe, and all over the world. In this manner, members of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester are able to accumulate experiences that are decisive for their musical development and further careers as professional musicians.
Julius Baer, in its commitment to talent development and classical music, has been supporting the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester for several years. This year, it sponsored selected concerts across Europe on the Orchestra’s 2016 Easter and summer tours.
