The Julius Baer Foundation is domiciled in Zurich and is under the supervision of Swiss law. It has close ties with the Julius Baer Group, which provides it with financial and administrative assistance as well as personnel support. The Julius Baer Foundation is monitored by the supervisory authority for foundations of the Canton of Zurich and is a member of SwissFoundations.
In view of the diverse aspects of its mission, the Julius Baer Foundation operates autonomously. It is governed by the Foundation Board which meets four times a year and consists of both senior executives of Julius Baer and individuals external to the company. The Board lays out policies and the strategic focus of the foundation, and defines project selection, duration of project support, and fund allocation. The Board also determines the foundation’s investment policy, which covers risk assessment and monitoring. The General Manager is responsible for the operational leadership of the foundation.
