Best External Asset Manager Platform and Offering

Explaining the decision to give this award to Julius Baer, WealthBriefing wrote in its announcement of the winners of this year’s European industry awards: “The needs of intermediaries are at the heart of our winner’s strategy and it has shown real efforts to give external asset managers cutting-edge technology”. This European award is part of a double accolade, as WealthBriefing Asia judged Julius Baer the winner in the same category when announcing its awards for South East Asia last June.

Marcel Suhner, Head Intermediaries Europe, said: “This award is a credit to our European Intermediaries team. Julius Baer’s external asset manager platform and offering is unique. As defined by our strategic ‘Business Navigator’ approach, we set out to be a true business partner to our intermediary clients. That means helping them to be successful both through raising revenues and reducing costs. Increasingly, we are sharpening our focus on individual external asset managers’ needs, while improving our technology offering and helping them with strategic or technology advice”.

Behind the year’s accomplishments lies a story of continual long-term investment, in both our people and technology. We believe that technology is a key differentiator for banks partnering with financial intermediaries. During 2019 and 2020, we made the Markets Toolbox, a specialised online trading system, available to EAMs, including the unique SPARK engine that equips EAMs to tailor and execute structured products in a few clicks. Often, we advise financial intermediaries on how to select portfolio management systems, and have done so for several established firms and start-ups in 2020.

Best Change Management Process/Best Implementation of a Technology Solution for the Digital Advisory Suite (DiAS)

Turning to the award for change management and implementation for DiAS, Marco Fischbacher, Head of Platform Strategy & Product Management, said: “The award is a perfect illustration of how Julius Baer invests in technology to improve our services. The Digital Advisory Suite (DiAS) is an in-house technology solution that has improved client service, as well as operational efficiency and employee satisfaction. It provides an efficient advisory cockpit while monitoring risk, complying with regulations and providing reporting. One of the keys to success has been how our business units and IT worked together to create this tool. DiAS was initially rolled out in Europe and the Middle East, and is now being extended to Asia. We would like to thank our clients, staff and technology partners for having the trust and confidence to bank with us over the years. The accolade shows the power of engaging with all stakeholders to be an innovative private bank.”

These three awards testify to Julius Baer’s commitment to the Intermediaries business, showing how the bank understands the importance of hearing our clients’ needs and being a business enabler for them. We will continuously strive to remain the preferred bank of choice for external asset managers and financial advisors.
