Development opportunities for all employees

Learning is a powerful driver for competitive advantage. Julius Baer offers various learning possibilities either online or in a (virtual) classroom setting. The current offering includes a broad variety of in-class courses in the areas of leadership, digital competences, creativity, public speaking and presentation skills, agility and transformation, and many more. The courses are held in different languages and locations around the world. With our online training offering, you can study any time and at your own pace on mobile devices. There is a large variety of topics to choose from, ranging from languages, banking skills, tools, and system skills, to legal and compliance and personal development. We also encourage employees to not only participate in targeted in-house programmes, but to also pursue focused external training for which Julius Baer offers financial contributions.

Development opportunities for client-facing employees

In addition to the basic training required by the various regulators, Julius Baer invests significantly in the continuous development of its client-facing employees. In Switzerland, for example, all relationship managers are trained in accordance with ISO standard 17024 to become ‘Certified Wealth Management Advisors (CWMA)’. The offering for front office employees also includes competency-based training for advisory skills, banking, and product knowledge. To make sure the training offering is in line with business needs, a community of front office ambassadors is involved when new learning opportunities are created. For talented assistants and specialists, the Junior RM Programme offers a great opportunity to develop into a relationship manager role.

Leadership development opportunities

Julius Baer expects a lot from its leaders, including life-long learning and personal development. We identify and foster future leadership talent and offer exciting perspectives for employees with the right motivation to lead. Assessing leadership talent on different levels through feedback from stakeholders or assessment centres is a regular practice. Julius Baer wants leaders to take a holistic approach; using an adaptive leadership approach, we develop leaders at all levels, from leadership talents to senior leaders, and make them fit to stand the test of the rapid changes in the world of finance. To develop our leaders successfully, we collaborate with the best institutions in the market, for instance with IMD, the leading business school, which is our partner in a variety of leadership development efforts.
