“If you don’t work hard, you won’t be successful”. Starting with her first job as a young girl on the family farm in Lanarkshire, hard work has been a mainstay in Mags’ entrepreneurial journey. That journey took her to London and then somewhat unexpectedly, New York, before bringing her back to Scotland where she did a management buy-in into a printing company before turning it into the market leading outsourcing business, Intelligent Office.

But Mags’ journey didn’t stop with founding her own business. “By far the best outcome that could ever have been” was to give back to those who helped her build it. So through a management buyout in 2014, Mag’s sold her stake in Intelligent Office, allowing her team to gain a bigger slice of the pie.

And that desire to give back continues today. Mags is now supporting the next generation of entrepreneur, alongside her step-son Callum, as Chairman of Occupyd – a platform that connects those who have surplus commercial space with start-up businesses who need it.
