Zurich, 1 February 2021 – As the world nears the one-year mark since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Julius Baer Group has decided to donate another CHF 5 million to organisations supporting people and communities who have been severely affected by it. Following last year’s contribution to emergency aid programmes for immediate support of frontline responders, this contribution aims to help fund programmes for those continuously affected by the impact of the pandemic, such as disadvantaged individuals, families and children, as well as healthcare workers whose instrumental role in fighting the virus puts them under heavy strain.

A significant part of the Group’s donation will be given to four Swiss organisations, including ‘Caritas Schweiz’ and ‘Winterhilfe Schweiz’, which are locally active in supporting disadvantaged individuals and families. Furthermore, part of the donation in Switzerland will go to the ‘Swiss Nurses Association’ and the ‘Kinderschutz Schweiz’ non-profit foundation. The latter works as a specialised agency throughout Switzerland to ensure that children can grow up free of violence. The remaining amount of the donation goes to the international children’s rights charitable humanitarian organisation ‘Fondation Terre des Hommes’, which is dedicated to improving the conditions of children’s health and safety worldwide.

These allocations aim at complementing official responses to the pandemic by national and international authorities and help bridge the gap in ensuring the resilience of local communities.
