Zurich/Madrid, 19 June 2017 – Julius Baer has announced today the appointment of Almudena Benedit, who will be in charge of the Portfolio Management business of its entity in Iberia. She has taken over her new role with immediate effect. Based in Madrid, Almudena Benedit will report to Carolina Martínez-Caro, Head Spain Domestic. She will substitute Pelayo Gil-Turner Smith, who has decided to pursue a new professional challenge outside the Bank.

Almudena Benedit has 20 years’ experience in the wealth management industry and looks back on a long career in renowned national and international private banks. In her new capacity, she will be in charge of the team at Julius Baer Gestión SGIIC S.A., which advises clients on their investment strategies and manages their assets. 

Almudena Benedit holds a Degree in Economics by ICADE (E2). She joins from Caixabank AM, where she was in responsible for portfolio management and so-called SICAVs (open-ended collective investment schemes). Previously, she had held the same function at Barclays Wealth, where she started in 2006. Almudena Benedit was also Member of the Global Investment Committee of Barclays Wealth in London. Before that, she had worked with Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank.
